1. Contractual Relationship & Legal Entity
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”, “Rider”) and YELLORIDE LIMITED (“YelloRide”, RC - 9918873, Tax ID - 2623708914517). By downloading, accessing, or using our mobile software and web platforms, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms.
Platform Notice: YelloRide provides an urban mobility technology platform that connects passengers seeking point-to-point transit and courier deliveries with verified independent third-party transport operators (“Driver Partners”). Driver Partners operate as independent contractors under their own commercial licensing.
2. The Services & Upfront Price Lock Guarantee
When you request a ride through YelloRide, the fare displayed prior to confirmation represents a binding Upfront Price Lock.
- The quoted fare will not be increased due to sudden rain, algorithmic traffic multipliers, or arbitrary surge spikes.
- Fare adjustments occur only if the passenger explicitly requests a change of destination or adds multiple stops mid-journey.
- Riders are provided with an electronic receipt detailing the distance, base rate, and payment method immediately upon ride completion.
3. User Accounts & Mandatory 4-Digit Security PIN
To maintain passenger security, every ride booking generates a secret 4-digit Safety PIN displayed in your mobile application.
You must provide this PIN to your assigned driver partner upon entering the vehicle. The driver cannot begin GPS navigation or debit your trip until the correct PIN is entered into the Driver App. Never board a vehicle whose driver cannot confirm your trip via the 4-digit PIN protocol.
4. Payment, In-App Wallets & Cancellation Safeguards
Payments may be made via verified digital cards, bank transfers, in-app Yello Wallet balances, or direct cash to the driver partner where designated.
- Cancellation Policy: Riders may cancel a requested ride free of charge within two (2) minutes of driver assignment. Cancellations after two minutes, or failure to arrive at the pickup point after five (5) minutes of driver arrival, may incur a standard dispatch standby fee of ₦500 to compensate the driver partner.
- Disputed Debits: In the event of duplicate charges or failed trips, refunds are credited back to your original payment method or Yello Wallet within 2 to 4 business hours upon dispute review.
5. Passenger Code of Conduct & Safety Rules
All members of the YelloRide community are expected to adhere to our standard safety standards:
- Zero Discrimination: We enforce strict zero-tolerance policies against harassment, verbal abuse, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, or disability.
- Vehicle Care: Passengers must treat driver vehicles with respect. Intentional damage, vandalism, or biological soiling may result in verified professional cleaning charges billed to the passenger.
- No Illegal Substances: The transport of hazardous materials, illicit narcotics, or unregistered firearms is strictly prohibited and subject to immediate law enforcement reporting.
6. Emergency SOS & Incident Protocols
Both Rider and Driver applications feature a dedicated Emergency SOS button. Activating the SOS trigger immediately broadcasts your live GPS coordinates, vehicle registration details, and trip corridor to our 24/7 Rapid Incident Command and pre-configured emergency contacts. Real-time telemetry is shared directly with the Nigerian Police Force or FRSC when required for emergency rescue.
7. Limitation of Liability & FCCPA Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude YelloRide’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from proven gross negligence, fraud, or any statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 or applicable Nigerian law.
Subject to statutory consumer rights, YelloRide operates as a technology dispatch platform and maintains third-party transit insurance coverage for active in-transit journeys across authorized corridors.
8. Dispute Mediation & Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall first be submitted to informal mediation through our Dedicated Support & Legal Desk. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, disputes shall be submitted to the Multi-Door Courthouse or arbitral tribunal in Lagos or Abuja, Nigeria.
